今日は mud についてのおさらいでもしようかな、、、と思っていたのだが It ain't over till the fat lady sings を再度とりあげる事にした。いつか私の英語ノートに書いたが「勝負の行方は下駄を履くまで分からない」という意味。 オペラの締めくくりに fat lady が登場するのが起源とされているが、Kate Smith が God Bless America を歌い終わるまではアメフトゲームは終わらないというのが一般的な通説となっているようだ。it ain't over till it's over でも同じ。
