memorial について

追悼式、法事、時には葬儀のことを memorial service と呼ぶことがある。Memorial Day と言えば戦没将兵追悼記念日のこと。ちなみにソウルの日本大使館前の慰安婦像は a Memorial for Comfort Women。だから、memorial には基本的に故人を偲ぶと言う意味がある。0:13 in New York City, there is a growing memorial outside Bowie's Soho apartment. 亡くなったデビッド・ボウイさんのアパートの前には突然の訃報を聞いたファンが次々と訪れて花束を捧げている。注；色々考えましたが、結局 memorial は訳しませんでした。
