詩の解釈というのは個人差があっていいと思いますが、この詩に関しては私の感想は「死は全ての人間に平等だからあの鐘は何のために鳴っているのかなんて野暮なことは聞くなよ、あんたの弔いの鐘に決まってるだろ。」くらいだと思います。とにかく、鐘はbell, 鳴るはtollです。0:24 in Newtown on Friday, (there are) 26 bell tolls for the moment the shooting happened a week ago. 金曜日にニュータウンでは一週間前の銃撃があった時間に合わせて犠牲者の数（26人）の鐘が鳴り響いた。
