カーネギー・メロン大学に教授である故ランディーポーシがおこなった最後の授業はあらゆる人の心に響きました。the elephant in the room とは、an obvious truth that is being ignored or goes unaddressed つまり、周知の事実ではあるが言及を避けられている事柄、、、(がん患者の前ではがんについてのことはあえて話題にしないなど、）です。ランディーはこの講義から約半年後になくなりました。
ややながい講義ですが、面白いので短く感じられるかもわかりません。この講義が全部わかればあなたのヒアリングは完璧ですが、80%ぐらいでもabove parです。ヒアリングを向上させるためには聞くだけでは駄目です。聞いてわかる単語を増やさなければいけません。そのために努力することを惜しんではいけません。次のビデオの0:25にも出てきます。
